The Ultracar Sports Club Premiere - What is the Ultracar Sports Club?

The Ultracar Sports Club is the brainchild of Stephane Ratel - Founder & CEO of SRO Motorsports Group, the architect of modern GT racing which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.  Recent years have seen SRO step away from a maximum of 14 different series at one point to concentrate on the Blancpain GT Series, which combined the existing Blancpain Endurance Series with the former FIA GT sprint series into a single entity, as well as the increasingly successful Avon Tyres British GT Championship.

Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and Porsche, have recently unveiled a new generation of extreme cars. LaFerrari, Veneno, McLaren P1 and 918 have recently joined the Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg One:1 and Pagani Huayra in this most exclusive Ultracar Sports Club.

The Ultracar Sports Club was set up :

To provide the owners of very exclusive sportscars with the opportunity to drive their cars on legendary circuits and in the best possible environment, the SRO Motorsports Group has created the Ultracar Sports Club: two events with four track sessions of 30 minutes each will see these Ultracars’ enormous potential exploited to the fullest. "

Stephane Ratel - Founder and CEO of SRO Motorsports Group

This is a dream come true. I feel very passionate about the Ultracar Sports Club, because I believe that these beautiful and exclusive machines belong on a race track. I am very happy to see that the manufacturers of this breed of hypercars share my point of view and will bring some of the most iconic examples to Le Castellet.

"The Ultracar Sports Club will give the spectators a real audio-visual treat, both in the paddock and on the track. For the owners, this will be a unique opportunity to share their passion while spending a pleasant weekend where the off-track environment will be as high-quality as the track sessions.

The McLaren P1 , a limited production plug-in hybrid sportscar, ultracar exists for one purpose, as defined by McLaren itself: the P1, says McLaren, must be the best driver’s car in the world.  Built to replace the formidable McLaren F1 (one belonging to Rowan Atkinson recently sold for £8 million despite being crash-repaired) the McLaren P1 utilizes hybrid power and Formula 1 technology and features a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine in a carbonfibre monocoque and roof structure safety cage concept called MonoCage with a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive design.  The twin turbos boost the petrol motor at 2.4 bar to deliver 727 bhp of torque at 7500 rpm, together with an electric motor producing 176 bhp and a total power and torque output of 903 bhp with both motors.  The electric motor can be deployed manually by the driver or left in automatic mode producing an effective powerband of almost 7000rpm.  The Mclaren P1 is capable of reaching a top speed of 395 km/h (247 mph) but it is electronical limited to a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).  Production was strictly limited and the entire P1 production of 375 units was sold out by November 2013.

The McLaren GTR was released in 2015 and made available to the 375 McLaren P1 owners only, with a very limited edition of 35 units. McLaren will give the McLaren P1 GTR its first public track appearance, with test driver Chris Goodwin at the wheel during Stephane Ratel's Ultracar Sports Club Premiere at Le Castellet race track
