Special Edition Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3 delivered to Brooklands Museum by Russells Transport using Covered Car Transport.

A very important Laureus Special Edition Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3, which also happens to be the 100th SLS AMG GT3, was created by the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation for sale to an anonymous Chinese buyer last year and was today transported by Russells Transport using covered car transport to the Brooklands Museum, the birthplace of British Motorsport and Aviation, located in Weybridge, Surrey.

The Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3 was designed as a customer sports car for sprint and endurance races and developed in accordance with the GT3 regulations of the FIA, and marked the beginning of a new era in Mercedes-Benz customer motorsport.  Developed and produced by Mercedes AMG in close co-operation with HWA AG, Mercedes AMG Affalterbach.  Wiith nine driver championships in the DTM and ITC and two championship titles in the FIA GT series, the HWA team is one of the most successful in International Motorsport.  Boasting a naturally aspirated V8 outputting 550 hp the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3 is a front-engine, 2-seater luxury, limited production supercar, and is the first Mercedes-Benz designed and built from scratch entirely by AMG.

Since it's debut season in 2011, the spectacular gullwing Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3 model has been one of the most popular sports cars in the ADAC GT Masters and is used by customer-sport teams all over the world.  So successful has the Mercedes-Benz,SLS AMG GT3 been that in its debut year, customer teams won 26 races on three continents, including the FIA GT3 European Championship and numerous long distance races all around the world including Dubai, Bathurst, Nürburgring and Spa to name but a few.  Mercedes-Benz have already confirmed that they are currently working on a new 2016 Mercedes Racing Version AMG GT3  and that because of FIA regulations, the previous 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine will probably not power the next race-spec GT road car, leading to much speculation.  This new model will succeed the previous model.  The huge tally of victories in an array of races can only continue to grow.

The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation comprises the Laureus World Sports Academy, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and the Laureus World Sports Awards.  The sole aim of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation is to harness the power of sport to raises funds to provide financial and practical support , providing coaching and education to young people in some of the most challenging or deprived environments around the world, with particluar emphasis on child development, health and social change. The Special Edition Laureus Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 which has a special blue and white colour scheme featuring numerous logos of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, was unveiled ahead of the Laureus World Sports Awards in Shanghai by luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz. Formula 1 legend Mikka Hakkinen handed over the keys of the special edition Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 to the buyer on the red carpet ahead of the Laureus World Sports Awards held in Shanghai.

The sale of the Special Edition Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3  raised 250,000 Euros for the foundation to help disadvantaged children in China.  Hubertus Troska, Daimler AG Greater China Board of Management member said local corporate responsibility activities of the company will donate 7.6 million Euros for comprehensive social programs within China, also offering a better future in sports.

The anonymous buyer magnanimously returned the car to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation to be used for future fund raining activeties for the charity.
