1998 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster sold for £1,513,500 by Bonhams at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed delivered by Russells Transport
One of the many classic and prestige cars delivered to the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed this year by Russells Transport and destined for the Bonhams Classic Car Auction, was a 1998 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster, the first of only six CLK GTR Roadsters built and which, until the Ferrari FXX was released, had been had been the most expensive production car to date. This 1998 Mercedes Benz CLK GTR Roadster, the very first built, had just 8 km on the odometer and sold for £1,513,500. The 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed annual Classic and Prestige event, held this year from the 25th to the 28th of June and as always on Lord March’s 1.86km driveway on the Goodwood estate nr Chichester, West Sussex. True to form this was another spectacular motorsport event featuring the finest of cars, both prestigious and classic, super cars and race cars alike competing on the Goodwood Circuit and in the legendary Hill Climb event, attended and watched by the crème de la crème of motorsport aficianados, both owners and fans alike with glorious weather to match it's namesake Glorious Goodwood. As usual there was an enormous and diverse collection of cars and motorbikes at the Festival of Speed which included Classic Race cars, Drift racers, F1 cars, Super cars, Le Mans machines, Mille Miglia winners and MotoGP bikes. Truly something for everyone.
Bonhams Auctioneers held their traditional Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale, Collector's Cars and Automobilia which attracted some top quality classic and prestige cars which included a 1998 Mercedes Benz CLK GTR transported to the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed by Russells Vehicle Management and Towing using Covered Car Transport. The 1998 Mercedes Benz CLK GTR sold for £1,513,500 which was the second highest sale price behind a classic 1935 Aston Martin ‘Ulster’ which sold for a mammoth £2,913,500.
