Porsche AG is the largest and most traditional Prestige Sports Car manufacturer and the most profitable automotive manufacturer in the world.   Founded in 1931 by Austrian engineer Ferdinand Porsche whose experience included Daimler-Benz, the company called was called  "Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH".  Ferdinand's first car design was Goverment commissioned as a 'car for the people'.  The end result was the Volkswagen Beetle, one of the most successful car designs of all time.

Porsche have been building prestige sports cars since 1949.  Porsche remains a staunchly — and profitably — independent maker of high-performance sports cars. From the first Porsche sports car, the 356, to the the new 911 Targa 4 GTS and Cayenne Turbo S, Porsche is also synonymous with racing, and Porsche cars began competing almost immediately. To date, Porsche cars have won an estimated 24,000 auto races around the world, including more than 50 class wins at Le Mans.  Porsche supercars were long the choice of Steve McQueen, the 'king of cool' who made the iconic film 'le Mans' which saw him driving a 1970 Porsche 911S sports car. He owned many other Porsche to satisfy his need for speed and prestige automobiles.

The one-millionth Porsche was built in July1996.  Corporate restructuring saw Porsche change their name to Porsche AG.  Today, Porsche continue to be a force majeure in the automobile world with ever more demand for their quietly understated, elegant sports cars and many of their supercar sports cars are limited editions.

Prestige Sports Car Delivery - Limited Edition Porsche 918 Spyder Supercar

The Limited Edition Porsche 918 Spyder supercar, delivered by prestige sports car delivery to the South of France, is one of only 918 produced worldwide and manufactured between 2013 and 2015.  Porsche's answer to the McClaren P1, which is no longer in production) and LaFerrari, the Porsche 918 Spyder is a mid-engined two-seater sports car hybrid carbonfibre construction designed by Michael Mauer and boasts a 4.6 litre V8 engine.  The engine is built on the same architecture as the one used in the RS Spyder Le Mans  Prototype  racing car without any engine belts.

Visually, the Porsche 918 Spyder looks like a race car for the road.  The Porsche 917, 935, 906, RS Spyder – all are acknowledged in places in the 918.  It weighs almost 200kg more than a McLaren P1 but delivers 50 per cent more overall torque. Churning out 887 hp and 944 lb-ft of torque the 918 delivers Bugatti-like acceleration, tenacious handling, and a 211-mph top speed..  For an extra $95,000, buyers can purchase the prestige Weissach Package that lowers the 918's weight to 3,615 pounds due to additional carbon fiber parts and special magnesium wheels. The Porsche 918 Spyder supercar is more than capable of giving the McLaren P1 and the LaFarrari a run for their money.

Prestige Sports Car Delivery - Porsche Carrera GT Supercar also Limited Edition

The exotic 605-hp Porsche Carrera GT supercar, a predecessor of the Porsche 918 Spyder, is a  limited-edition, high-performance sports car produced by Porsche between 2004 and 2007. Originally a production run of 1,500 cars was planned. However, Porsche announced in August 2005 that it would not continue production of the Carrera GT through to 2006.  By the end of production on May 6, 2006, more than 1,270 GTs had been sold, with at least 604 of those being in North America.

Featuring a screaming 612-hp 5.7L V10 and a good old fashioned 6-speed manual transmission version rated at 558 hp, Porsche claim the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 3.5 seconds with a maximum speed of 330 km/h (205 mph). During the Carrera GT's development, Porsche test driver Walter Rohrl told the Australian website Drive that the GT was "the first car in my life that I drive and I feel scared.".  A throwback to old-school racing, the Porsche Carrera GT is one of a few modern cars built without electronic stability control, which prevents the vehicle's back wheels from spinning out on turns. IndyCar star Graham Rahal said  "To me the CGT is in the top three vehicles ever made, possibly the greatest road car ever made."

Prestige Sports Car Delivery - the new Porsche 911 Turbo

Also delivered to the South of France by Russells Transport was the new Porsche 911 Turbo.  The Porsche 911 is a two-door, 2+2 high performance s ports ca r  made since 1963 and It is among the most successful competition cars ever made.  The Porsche 911 Turbo first made an appearance at the 1974 Paris motor show. Although Porsche internally changes the headings for its models, all 911 models were and still are currently sold as a "911", from 1963 to the present time.  Essentially an earth-bound executive jet, the Porsche 911 Turbo is a high-tech, high-speed grand tourer capable of whisking passengers across vast distances in total comfort.

On sale from the 1st of December, 2015, the Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S now come with 20 additional horsepower over previous years – bringing the Turbo up to 540 horsepower and the Turbo S up to 580 horsepower. Both cars still utilize the 3.8-liter, flat-six, but that engine has been modified in each to accommodate the power increase.  Top speed is 205mph, versus 197mph for the model it replaces, making the Turbo S it the fastest accelerating production 911 there’s ever been.  The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system is now standard, which brings a lowered ride height and electronically adjustable dampers with a choice of sport modes.

With even more tech underneath, the 911’s chassis offers even more grip, poise and comfort, and with over 50 years of development behind it the Porsche 911 Turbo is still one of the world’s best prestige sports cars.
